Biography
Diana Layne, PhD, RN, CPHQ, CQIA is Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). primary teaching responsibilities in the PhD of Nursing Science program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and Master of Science degree in nursing with a concentration in Acute Care Leadership from East Carolina University. She received her PhD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Nursing Science.
Dr. Layne's program of research is focused on caregivers. Specifically, she is interested in increasing early access to palliative care for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. In 2021, Dr. Layne received a KL2 Career Development Award through the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute to adapt an existing nurse led palliative care intervention for use in individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.
In addition to her research, she is a certified professional in healthcare quality with training as a lean six sigma black belt. Dr. Layne serves as the secretary for Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Omicron at Large chapter and is a member of the New Knowledge and Innovation council at the Medical University Hospital Authority. Dr. Layne is also a member of the American Nurses Association, SC Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
