Biography
Dr. Dariusz Pytel, PhD, DSc, is the Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He received training at the Medical University of Lodz, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), and Harvard Medical School. Besides his doctorate in molecular genetics and biochemistry, he received his Doctor of Science degree from the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology. His research interests focused on the role of the unfolded protein response (UPR) dependent regulation of cells proliferation, lipid metabolism, and drug discovery in the contest of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases particularly Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s Disease related dementias (ADRD). Moreover, Dr. Pytel has experience working both in research and clinical laboratory settings and he is familiar with performing CLIA-compliant testing
